Tanager congratulates Barbara Stinson in her new role as President of The World Food Prize Foundation. Ms Stinson is a career consensus-builder on issues that transcend country borders and has demonstrated a tireless commitment to address food safety and food security.
Tanager had the privilege to collaborate with Ms. Stinson in the past on pressing food security issues, particularly mitigation of aflatoxin contamination in maize – a staple food in East Africa. With Ms. Stinson’s thought leadership during her tenure at Meridian, Tanager was able to identify and develop appropriate drying and storage technologies for maize to mitigate aflatoxin contamination and decrease silage of stored maize – thereby improving food safety and food security for smallholder farming families. Through her engagement with the Partnership for Aflatoxin Control in Africa (PACA), Barbara established a platform to address the problem at a regional level. Ms. Stinson’s new post will allow her to address aflatoxin and other agriculture and food security issues on a global scale.
Tanager also congratulates Ambassador Kenneth M. Quinn on his impactful tenure as President of the World Food Prize Foundation. Through Ambassador Quinn’s skilled diplomacy, The World Food Prize has brought attention to the important work of the scientists, thought-leaders, and field-practitioners who strive to ensure that all people have access to a nutritious and sustainable food supply – a mission that is at the heart of Tanager’s work as well.
