  • Collaborative Implementation Model: The project operates through a tripartite partnership among Tanager, Local Service Providers (LSPs), and African Agricultural Institutions (AAIs), combining global and national expertise to co-create context-specific, sustainable solutions.
  • Collaboration, Learning, and Adaptation (CLA): At the heart of IGNITE+ is a continuous learning approach that fosters joint reflection, adaptive programming, and practical technical assistance, ensuring long-term, inclusive, and nutrition-sensitive agrifood systems.

Now in its second phase, Tanager’s Impacting Gender and Nutrition through Innovative Technical Exchange in Agriculture Plus (IGNITE+) project stands as a flagship initiative strengthening gender and nutrition integration into food systems across Africa. The project aims to accelerate women’s economic empowerment and improved household nutrition, contributing to a more inclusive, resilient, and sustainable agrifood systems.

IGNITE+ operates through a tripartite collaboration among Tanager, Local Service Providers (LSPs), and African Agricultural Institutions (AAIs). This partnership ensures that Tanager’s global expertise and LSPs national expertise are combined to co-create context-specific, effective gender and nutrition integration approaches. Through this model, Tanager supports its LSPs among them Ikore in Nigeria to build sustainable business models for delivery of gender and nutrition technical assistance, while simultaneously helping African Agricultural Institutions institutionalize gender and nutrition-sensitive approaches into their operations and agricultural interventions.

At the heart of the IGNITE+ project lies a powerful principle: Collaboration, Learning, and Adaptation (CLA). Across multiple countries and institutions, Tanager and its partners engage in continuous reflection, joint learning sessions, and refine their approaches to deliver stronger gender and nutrition outcomes. This approach ensures that technical assistance remains responsive, practical, and impactful —contributing to the creation of resilient, inclusive, and nutrition-sensitive agrifood systems that endure beyond the project’s lifespan.
