Borlaug International Symposium (hosted by the World Food Prize) focused on how to effectively and humbly manage projects with multi-stakeholder partnerships, using the award-winning Shubh Mint project as a case study.

Tanager and Mars presented a webinar on the design and implementation of the Shubh Mint Project for The Living Income Community of Practice, hosted by the Sustainable Food Lab.
Tanager and Mars Wrigley Confectionery have been working together in India since 2014 to help farmers the mint supply chain increase income and boost productivity. This webinar will be a discussion and presentation on the Shubh Mint Project, currently in its third year of implementation. Experts from Mars Wrigley Confectionery and Tanager will share lessons learned from the design and implementation of this project, with an eye towards how the project has improved lives and livelihoods of farmers, including a 250% increase in net incomes from mint. This case will address a sourcing situation where a lead firm is not buying the crop which provides the majority of household income, yet provides a critical component of that income with considerable potential for improvement.
This report examines the results of the AgResults Kenya On-Farm Storage Challenge Project – a Tanager-supported project that challenged Kenyan companies to create on-farm grain storage devices for smallholder farmers in Kenya. As summarized in this report, these devices allowed farmers to protect upwards of 413,265 MT of grain from marauding pests. The farmers and their families will now have access to pesticide-free grain available for household consumption. The companies that created the storage devices were able to establish market linkages which ultimately will make these grain storage devices available to more farmers in Kenya.
Dr. Lawrence Haddad and Dr. David Nabarro were honored with the World Food Prize at October events held in Iowa that included the Borlaug Dialogue International Symposium.
