Sergio Rivas

Regional Representative, ACDI/VOCA, Latin America & Caribbean

Sergio Rivas is a technical advisor with more than 18 years of development experience overseeing government and private sector-funded programs. Sergio engages with the private sector, government counterparts, and community representatives to develop tailored and impactful household, community, and enterprise solutions. Previously he served as Chief of Party of the $61M USAID/Colombia Afro-Colombian and Indigenous activity, where he promoted over 11,000 jobs for vulnerable youth, and benefited over 13,000 rural households with food security and livelihood assistance. Prior to his work in Colombia, Mr. Rivas oversaw the USAID Northern Zone Initiative in Paraguay, where he facilitated efforts to forge over a dozen public-private alliances, leveraging over $4M of direct investment in local licit social and productive activities, benefitting 25,000 households. Earlier in his career, Mr. Rivas served as Senior Program Manager for USAID/Bolivia. He holds a master’s in Economic Development, and an Executive Leadership Certificate from Cornell University.
