Sita Zougouri

Director of Gender and Social Inclusion, Burkina Faso

Sita Zougouri is a social scientist with a background in anthropology, sociology, communication, and teaching. She has 15 years of experience in research and international program management in development issues, gender, natural resources management, land policies, decentralization and local governance, and water and sanitation. As Tanager’s technical director and gender lead for the SELEVER project, she provides thought leadership integrating technical strategies (nutrition, market systems, poultry, and monitoring and evaluation) and coordinates gender strategies and activities She also coordinates and maintains strong relationships with key partners and actors within the SELEVER project. Previously at Care International, she directed gender mainstreaming in West Africa for USAID-funded WASH programs. She served as an expert on gender mainstreaming and anthropology for CCAFS, World Bank, African Development Bank, UNECA, and UN Women. Sita holds a doctorate in cultural anthropology from Uppsala University in Sweden.
