Dr. Singh has more than 35 years of experience developing high-yielding varieties of medicinal and aromatic plants. He is a renowned agriculture scientist specializing in medicinal and aromatic plants. As Tanager’s technical director in India, he provides technical know-how to the team as well as farmers working under the mint project. Previously he worked at the Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CIMAP) for 35 years and retired as chief scientist. He holds patents for several plant varieties. He has developed varieties of mint, cassia angustifolia, asparagus, poppy, lemon grass, geranium, and others. He also has published more than 150 research papers in national and international journals. Dr. Singh provides extension support to farmers to improve the cultivation of medicinal aromatic plants especially mint, geranium, and artemisia annua. His awards include the CSIR-Technology Award (biological sciences & technology), IPI-FAI Award for potash, Green Technology Award, FICCI Award, and CSIR Award Science & Technology (innovation for rural development). Dr. Singh holds a doctorate from C.S. Azad University of Agriculture and Technology. He is a fellow of the Indian Society of Genetics & Plant Breeding and a former member of the Management Council of CIMAP.
