As 2023 comes to a close, Tanager is thrilled to share the remarkable impact that we’ve achieved, thanks to support from our partners and stakeholders. Together, we have:
- Strengthened 35 African institutions operating in 18 countries, resulting in an unprecedented expansion of nutrition-sensitive, gender-integrated agriculture programming.
- Increased the revenues of eight Farmer Producer Organizations in the Indian state of Odisha to nearly $1 million, which has translated into elevated income and services for more than 4,600 member farmers, with a notable 58% representation of female farmers.
- Pioneered investment of over $600,000 in an innovative impact fund in Burkina Faso—the first of its kind—dedicated exclusively to the poultry sector and positively impacted women in more than 1,000 groups, enhancing their access to financing and vital poultry services and new practices related to nutrition, water, sanitation, and hygiene.
- Nurtured 300 youth-led new business ideas through mentoring, seed funding, and incubation, spearheading positive socio-economic integration of young people and the creation of hundreds of new jobs in Burkina Faso.
- Orchestrated the largest global supply chain for quality mint planting material in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, benefiting more than 25,000 mint growers and producing a record-breaking increase in yields (24.3%) over 2022.
- Engaged more than 300 maize farmers in South Africa’s Eastern Cape province, facilitating access to top-tier good agricultural practices and new connections with soil testing and mechanization service providers, harvest aggregators, and government assistance programs—positioning them for crop yields and incomes never seen before by smallholder families in the region.
